Our Committees

  • Academic

Our Academic committee works with our Academic chairs to gather academic resources and opportunities for LAH students. They collect internship listings, organize student spotlights to show off what our members are up to, and even conduct book clubs! They also keep our LAH LinkedIn updated with useful career information. Active semesters: Fall, Spring Open to: All LAH students

  • DEI

With our DEI chairs, the DEI committee aims to celebrate the cultural diversity of Austin and our organization’s members. This committee is in charge of planning special events and holiday celebrations throughout the year. We want to ensure that Liberal Arts Honors is welcoming to all LAH students and the DEI committee plays an important part in that mission. Active semesters: Fall, Spring Open to: All LAH students

  • Service

The Service committee is all about giving back to our local community and making a positive impact around us. They organize blood drives, coordinate street clean-ups, and put together other community service projects and charity efforts throughout the semester. It's a great way to get involved, meet people, and do some good for the community at the same time. Active semesters: Fall, Spring Open to: All LAH students

  • Social

Our service committee is in charge of planning, organizing, advertising, and leading LAH’s monthly social events. This may include contacting local businesses and creating budget proposals, but ultimately, the social committee is integral in maintaining LAH’s sense of camaraderie and community! Active semesters: Fall, Spring Open to: All LAH students

  • Mentorship

The Mentorship committee works over the summer to pair up incoming LAH students with current members who can help them navigate both the Liberal Arts Honors program and UT in general. They handle mentor assignments and plan fun events and activities for mentors and mentees to do together, making sure new students feel welcomed and connected from day one. Active semesters: Summer, Fall Open to: All LAH students

First-Year Representatives

First-Year Representatives (FYRs) are special executive board positions designed just for freshman LAH students. As board members, FYRs represent the interests and voices of all first-year students, making sure their needs are heard at the leadership level. They focus on creating a welcoming environment by regularly hosting events exclusively for first-years, helping new students connect with each other and feel at home in the LAH community.

Getting Involved

Our committees typically have 3 members, and our executive board takes on 3-5 first-year representatives every year. Applications for fall and spring positions open at the beginning of the fall semester after an info session (specific details can be found on our Instagram). Applications for the mentorship committee open during the spring semester, and there isn’t a proceeding info session.
